Joseph F. Ryan - Dr. Ryan is the Department Chair and Professor of Public Administration and Criminal Justice/Sociology at Pace University. Professor Ryan is an expert in Homeland Security and has done extensive research on terrorism. He was a consultant on security for the Atlanta Olympic Games and advised people on security worldwide. He is a 25 year veteran of the New York City Police Department and a national expert on community policing and police management. Prof. Ryan is a former Visiting Fellow of the National Institute of Justice, former member of the Center for Disease Control's Violence Prevention Initiative and a member of the American Society of Criminology. He has served as NYPD's representative on numerous task forces at both local & national level.
John Comiskey - Mr. Comiskey is the instructor for
Intelligence Gathering Strategies for Homeland Security (CRJ 623). Mr. Comiskey is a veteran of the New York City Police Department where he holds the rank of Lieutenant and specializes in tactical patrol operations, event management, and counterterrorism operations. John is also a veteran of the United States Coast Guard where he serves as an Intelligence Specialist. Mr. Comiskey is especially interested in the prevention aspects of counterterrorism, the criminal nexus of terrorism, and the role of the intelligence community in homeland security.
Darrell Darnell - Mr. Darnell is the instructor for xxxxx. Mr. Darnell is the senior associate vice president for safety and security at George Washington University. He was previously the Director, Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Policy, National Security Staff. Prior to joining the National Security Staff Mr. Darnell was Director of the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. Mr. Darnell has also served as Director, Preparedness Division for the Department of Homeland Security Headquarters Operational Integration Staff (I-Staff) where he oversaw DHS and interagency operational planning and execution of national exercise, evaluation and preparedness assessment programs.
David T. Kavanaugh - Mr. Kavanaugh is the instructor for
International Human Rights (CRJ 622). He is Superintendent for Change Management with An Garda Siochana, the national police of Ireland. He has been a career police officer since 1980 and has gained a wide range of operational, administrative and training experience. Since 2000 he has specialised in strategic planning, organisation development, and corporate change management. Mr. Kavanaugh was qualified by the Council of Europe to deliver its Police and Human Rights Program. He has delivered human rights training for management and supervisory level police officers in Ireland, Moldova, Russian Federation, and Sri Lanka. He has lectured BA courses in Applied Criminology and Crime, Order and Social Control.
Robert F. Littlejohn - Mr. Littlejohn is the instructor for
Strategic Planning and Budgeting (CRJ 603). Mr. Littlejohn is the Principal of Robert F. Littlejohn & Associates LLC, a global risk management and security firm located in New York City. Mr. Littlejohn was previously Vice President Global Security, Avon Products, Inc. In that role, he was responsible for crisis management, business continuity and security operation in 140 countries worldwide. Prior to joining Avon, Mr. Littlejohn was the Vice President of Investigations & Consulting Services at Pinkertons, Inc. Before joining the private sector with the New York City Police Department as the Executive Director, Office of Emergency Management. He is the author of the book “Crisis Management: A Team Approach” (American Management Association) and has written many articles on management to include “Zero Based Budgeting”, and “Team Management”. In 1984, he was awarded The Congressional Medal of Merit for outstanding public service.
Philip J. Palin - Mr. Palin is the instructor for
Introduction to Homeland Security (CRJ 601). A risk consultant in private practice, Mr. Palin is the principal author of the "Catastrophe Preparedness" series from McGraw-Hill and other books and articles related to homeland security. Among several other roles, Mr. Palin currently serves as the Mass Care Project Manager for the Regional Catastrophic Planning Grant in FEMA Region III. Mr. Palin has previously served as a corporate CEO, head of an international educational foundation, and President of a small college in Japan. He is especially interested in prevention, resilience, open source intelligence processes, and strategic planning.
Susan Reinerston - Ms.Reinertson is the instructor for xxxxxx (CRJ 6XX). She is also Chief Operations Administrator at Amtrak. From 2006 until 2009, Susan Reinertson was in the Senior Executive Service as the Regional Administrator for the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Region 10, which covers the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Previously, Ms. Reinertson worked at the Homeland Security Institute in Arlington, VA, where she coordinated the team responsible for a project that involved capabilities-based planning and in developing a model for assessing and improving national preparedness. Ms. Reinertson has also served as the Director and Homeland Security Advisor of the North Dakota Division of Emergency Services (NDDES).
